Academic Year update – 8th October 2020

Academic Year 2020-2021

Dear Parents,

Following on from our previous communications, I writing to let you know that we have now had some additional information from the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Health (MOH) regarding the possible reopening of school on November 1^st. This information has been summarised into two documents that can accessed via the school app and website.

In addition, and in accordance with MOE requirements, we have now submitted all the appropriate paperwork to the MOE that pertains to how we intend to operate our hybrid educational programme. Once we have confirmation from the MOE that these have been approved, we will be able to provide our community with more information on the structure of the school day.

Nevertheless, based on the information we have received we have started to prepare the campus to be fully operational from November 1^st. This includes designated drop-off areas, temperature check-points, increased clearning schedules, specially assigned play areas and the configuring of classrooms to ensure social distancing.

I would also be extremely grateful if you would take note of the information below that relates directly to Primary and Secondary.

Primary Information from Mr. Darren:

It is our intention to continue to operate the Primary timetable in a similar format to the on-line programme. This means the students will begin the day with Homeroom and this will be followed by 4 lessons per day. For those students studying at home, tasks will be set through Firefly. As stated above we are unable to state the exact times at present because we are waiting for further guidance on school hours from the Ministry of Education.

 Secondary Information from Mr. Paul:

In preparation for November 1^st we have decided to make a number of small changes to the Secondary timetable and these are outlined in the table below. These changes will mean the students will spend slightly less time in front of the computer and will be given some extra time to reflect and arrange their notes from the day. Please note these changes will start on Sunday 11^th October.

I would also ask that you help us ensure the students are ready for the day, by being in their school uniform and have their cameras on in preparation for lesson registration. This will allow us to maximise the available teaching time.
