Dear Parents,

Now that we have reached the end of Term 1, I thought I would take this opportunity to bring you several updates and reminders in preparation for Term 2.

Student Vaccinations. In September, I sent all parents the Ministry of Education (MOE) guidelines with regards to student vaccinations and attendance at school. In line with these guidelines, I want to remind everyone that our e-learning programme will finish at the end of this term and all students will be expected to attend school from January 2nd, 2022. The only exception to this will be for those students who qualify under the MOE medical exemptions.

Safety on Campus. Although it has been great to have the students back on campus this term, I think it is important to remember that the virus is still active, and we must continue to remain vigilant.

As a result, can I remind everyone that facemasks are compulsory on campus (even when you are dropping off and picking up) and that parents can only enter the educational zone with an appointment.

I would also like to ask that everyone check their speed when driving on campus and keep below 30 kph. In recent weeks, we have noticed several drivers speeding, especially those departing from Kindy (KG) via Lane 6 in the mornings. Please reduce your speed and help us to keep the campus as safe as possible.

Mock Examinations. At the beginning of next term, we will be hosting mock examinations for Years 11 and 13. In line with MOE guidelines all students are expected to attend these sessions. The timetable of examinations has already been issued to the students, but should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Charles (IB Coordinator) and Mr Simon (IGCSE Coordinator).

ECA Programme. Next term we intend to reintroduce our Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) programme in line with the guidelines issued by the MOE. Although we will be offering a wide range of activities for all year groups, there will still be some restrictions to ensure student and teacher safety. If you would like any additional information regarding the ECA programme, you can contact Mr Lee (Activities Coordinator).

Changing Rooms for PE. We have recently been informed that from next term, students will be allowed to use the changing rooms at the beginning and end of each PE lesson. This means students will no longer be required to come to school in their PE kit. If you have any questions concerning the use of the changing rooms, please contact Ms. Katie (Head of Faculty for Physical Education).

The ISC International School of the Year Award. I am delighted to report that for the second consecutive year, we have been shortlisted for this award for our environmental initiative on campus. The winner of this prestigious award will be announced at the end of January.

UNESCO Global Forum. I am also delighted to report that one of our IB students (Sultan Al Hathrami) has been selected to represent the Arab states at the forthcoming UNESCO Global Forum. In addition, Sultan, together with Zeena Al Kindi were selected by the Ministry of Education to represent Oman at the virtual student forum at the r ecent Global Citizenship Education for Sustainable Development Conference. Congratulations to both Sultan and Zeena.

Please stay safe during the winter break and I look forward to seeing everyone next term.
